Straight Skate Team

The Team
We currently have 12 active team members (as of June 2010), four honorary team members. The shop staff are also considered as part of the team.

How we select team members
Generally,
the team members can vote to add a new team member at anytime – just as they can vote to take somebody off the team.

At this time we do not consider video submissions for team membership, we believe these only shows how good the camera guy and video editor are.

What are we looking for in a team member
· Attitude - getting along and not causing problems – well liked and respected. Good attitude, and this is the most important and cannot be stressed strongly enough, this means the skater gets along with people and is not a trouble maker. Helps and encourages younger skaters and doesn’t go throwing fits, screaming and yelling or cursing, if things are not going his/her way.

· Active skater – enjoys and enthusiastic about skating. Someone who actively skates, several times each week, and goes to various skate parks or skate spots. We are looking for “serious” skaters.

· Skilled skater – respected by peers. He/she are respected for their skateboarding ability. A list of tricks is not what we are looking for – we want skaters with strong basic skills. If you can only pop one or two big tricks every now and then - sorry - we are looking for a well rounded skater with a deep bag of tricks that can show great style for miles.

You may be the best skater in town, but if you do not meet the other requirements, sorry. You might rip, but if your ego and bad attitude mask your abilities, we don’t want anything to do with you!Strong supporter of the team and Straight Skate. Has to frequent the shop, unfortunately we cannot have strangers on our team.

Other Team Responsibilities
- Strongly promote and support STR8SK8 during normal activities.
- Attend contests, promotional and demonstration events wearing STR8SK8 colors.
- Attend monthly skates and sKILL sessions (mandatory) at local skate parks (STR8SK8 pays).
- We feel that a “team” has to know the capabilities of the other skaters and work together to improve their skills
